Wedgewood Feeds Frontline Workers

BOARDMAN – Wedgewood Pizza was able to expand its staff to 25 in 2020, owner Anthony Pellegrini says, and avoided closing during the pandemic.

While the pizzeria reduced its hours and closed its dining area, Wedgewood still served customers. It donated to United Way and other charities to provide food for those in need and donated pizzas to frontline workers at hospitals.

All staff stayed on board and with many seasonal workers being college students, the move to remote education meant they were able to work at Wedgewood year-round. “We were even able to give raises,” Pellegrini says.

“In September, Brian Allsopp, who has special needs, was awarded a plaque for folding over 2.5 million boxes and counting. He has been employed here for over 25 years.”
