Ellwood Aluminum Completes Plant Construction with Perfect Safety Record

HUBBARD, Ohio – Ellwood Aluminum completed construction of its Hubbard plant with a perfect workplace safety record, the company announced Wednesday.

Construction on the 12,000-square-foot casting plant began in 2018 and was completed last year.

“Completing our Hubbard facilty construction with no injuries is an accomplishment that we are incredibly grateful,” said Ellwood Aluminum’s president, Patrick Callihan, in a statement. “We owe this achievement to our knowledgeable and safety conscious team of employees and contractors that allowed for this project to happen seamlessly.”

The $60 million-plus plant expanded Ellwood Group’s aluminum production capabilities. Equipped with vertical direct chill casting machinery, the plant can produce aluminum ingots up to 360 inches. The manufacturer also has a 55-ton melting and holding combination furnace and two 40-ton cranes to handle oversized products.

In February, Ellwood Aluminum cast a 95,000-pound slab, the largest ever produced in North America, for Wagstaff Inc.
