Ohio Auto, Home Insurance Premiums Among Lowest in Country

COLUMBUS, Ohio — On average, Ohioans pay among the lowest auto and homeowners insurance premiums in the country, according to a recent analysis by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

Data shows that in 2017, Ohio residents paid an average of $862 for homeowners insurance and $778 for auto, ranking ninth and 13th lowest in the country, respectively, reports Jillian Froment, director of the Ohio Department of Insurance. That compares to national averages of $1,211 for homeowners insurance and $1,005 for auto.

“We are fortunate in Ohio to have a robust and competitive insurance marketplace that provides consumers many different insurance options,” Froment said in a release. “I encourage consumers to always comparison shop and make sure they secure adequate amounts of coverage.”
