ProPublica: Ransomware Too Scary for Business to Name

NEW YORK — ProPublica, an independent nonprofit newsroom dedicated to investigative reporting, publishes a series of stories as part of its coverage titled “The Extortion Economy: U.S. Companies and Ransomware.”

The reports have documented the preference of insurance companies to pay ransom when public agencies and companies are hit by ransomware and their files are locked, and concludes the reason is that “attacks are good for business.”
