Steel Museum Opens New Exhibit on Pollock Co.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A new exhibit at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor will highlight the role of the William B. Pollock Co. in the iron and steel industries.

The new exhibit, “The William B. Pollock Co.: Advancements in the Art of Iron and Steel,” can be found in the museum’s Bitonte Family Welcome Lobby. A virtual component is also available on HERE.

In operation for 120 years, the Pollock Co. began as a boiler shop before expanding into cinder cars, ladles and ladle cars for the steel sector. Its final product was a ladle for Basic Oxygen Furnace in December 1983.

Alongside the exhibit, artwork displayed in the Harry Meshel Classroom showcases some of the ways Pollock Co. products were used in the mills.

The exhibit was made possible through support of the William B. Pollock and Kathryn Challis Pollock Foundation, the Pollock Co. Foundation and Robert Hannay.

The Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, at 151 W. Wood St., is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays noon to 4 p.m.
